New Forney ISD Board of Trustee members Michael White (left) and Heath Carroll (right) were sworn into office on Monday, June 4, 2012 during the board's regular monthly board meeting.
The new trustees were elected in May to the board and will serve a three-year term. All candidates for the Forney ISD Board of Trustees are at-large candidates.
Forney ISD Board of Trustees not only represent the public, but also translate the needs of students into policies, goals and strategies that reflect the standards and values of the community. A Trustee's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring and evaluating the Superintendent; approving the district's budget; establishing goals and evaluating results; levying taxes and issuing bonds; ordering elections; and communicating with the community.
The FISD Board of Trustees also held officer elections during the monthly meeting. Keith Bell was elected to be the board's president for a second consecutive year, Dr. John Taylor was elected to be the board's vice president for a second term and David Walker was elected to serve the board as secretary for a second term.
